Tribute to Alexander McQueen

Unnaturally skilled; unnatural death. Alexander McQueen, fashion designer, will rest as one of the true contemporary innovators and visionaries of the fashion industry, manipulating old and new ideas into immaculately tailored collections that speak of his years of Savile Row training and work for renowned fashion houses such as Givenchy.

His collections, often deemed twisted and tormented by fashion's elite, seemed to reveal his inner turmoil in his personal life, though season after season, the designer continued to push the envelope of acceptability and wearability. Even as he was criticized, he was adored. And even as he was deemed shocking, his designs revealed absolute commercial viability.

The serpentine image we included was shot by the brilliant Nick Knight for McQueens spring/summer 2010 campaign.

Rest in peace Alex.

3.1 Phillip Lim is in - As if you didn't already know

We're getting at this a little late because truth be told, we've had 3.1 Phillip Lim's pretty pre-spring collection in for almost 2 weeks now and haven't had a moment to blog about it. So let's get down to it: We LOVE the small collection. Why? Because it's part ethereal and forever and it's part hand-me-down in perfect condition from your mom's closet. Beautiful lace dresses and skirts that look so simple, yet are hand-embroidered and offered at such an amazing price. The pieces are as close to wearable couture as ready-to-wear can get and at buy now prices, if not wear now. And a "tee" that the designer is designating a tee, but is more like a slightly cropped delicate lace top to distinguish you from the night-owl crowd or keep your day office wardrobe in serious style.

We're almost soldout so call us to get dibs now. These styles are selling out fast around the country. 614.291.3600.
