Our Favorite Holiday Window Shopping 2009
It's the perfect time of year to be window shopping. The holidays bring about the most creative window displays we've ever seen and we always look forward to seeing the visual beauty of the season through retail eyes. Here are a few of our favorite windows from top to bottom:
Bergdorf's NYC has outdone themselves with a frozen crystalline display worthy of an ice queen.
Harrod's of London went with the Wizard of Oz for the holidays and nothing says Merry Christmas more than the Wicked Witch of the West's fashionable red pumps!
We love the way Saks Fifth Avenue in New York integrated social media into a children's fairy tale theme this season. A listed number could be used to Twitter a message for all viewers to see. Ingenious!
Barneys NY took a comedic approach by paying homage to Saturday Night Live with Tina Fey and The Coneheads as display material.
Happy merry making!

The Ladies of Paris
Paris is the undisputed fashion capital of the world, if not for the couture houses, then for the fashionably-savvy crowd that keeps the City of Lights glimmering with new cult labels and innovative ideas. Here's a few of our favorite fashion ladies, from a beautiful stranger during Paris Fashion Week who was dressed "down" in "basic", Garance Dore with her amazing LV camera bag, covetable Carine Roitfield, the ever ethereal Dree Hemingway, and Vanessa Traina in glorious Givenchy. A toast to the lovelies that keep us inspired with their style visions!

Rock 'N Road: Motorcycle Mamas Rock On!
We seem to keep coming back to the rock 'n road theme this season and we can't help ourselves. We love the way you ladies are inspiring us with the many ways you're wearing your motorcycle leather jackets from your Balmains to your Balenciagas and everything in between. We've since soldout of all of our leather, but spring season 2010 will offer up some new styles we can't wait to get in! As as a tribute to your savvy style, here's a few shots of notable personas in their favorite go-to jacket for the season (from Paris Vogue's Emmanuelle Alt to Vanessa and Victoria Traina).

Fall Trends in Pictures
Last night while catching up on our favorite blog reading, we stumbled upon several fashion images that recalled for us a few of the key fall trends for the current season. Worn so well by the street models shown here, each of them gave us a renewed sense of fun for getting dressed in the morning. Some of the trends we grabbed on instantly: winter white, '80's glitter and sequins, lumberjack plaid, snoods, and leopard prints and fur.

Holiday Dress-ing: The Long and Short of It
There are many options this holiday for party dressing. We love the complete '80s references that have punctuated all the designer collections and heart the sequin and shine that adorn holiday dresses. Preen, ALC, 3.1 Phillip Lim, and Alexander Wang put us in prime party mood. Whether a strapless maxi dress or full-skirted short dress, the only question left is: Which to wear for the Xmas party and which for New Year's? If the dress is heavily embellished, don't over accessorize. If simple, top off with this season's best statement necklaces. Our faves: ACB and PYT.

These Shoes Were Made for Party
We're always coming across amazing statement shoes that get our pulses racing. And they usually come with an equally aspirational price tag to boot. But newcomer and current press darling Camilla Skovgaard's Chastity Wrap Sandal bucks the mold. Using a beautiful grey Italian croc-embossed Italian nappa leather, the Danish designer has molded a keenly-styled strappy sandal at an unbelievable price. Wrapping around the most flattering part of the leg, we'll want to wear these with skinny denim and leggings with opaque tights and all of our fall tunics and dresses we can imagine. We love its subtle new color - a welcome change from the black basic. And we love that it can enhance any holiday party dress without clashing. It begs a play on the phrase "$399 are you out of your mind?" If yes, let the craze ensue.

3 Keys to Autumnize Your Fall Wardrobe
We just got returned from a Style Seminar at Easton Fashion Mall on notes to freshen your fall wardrobe to interject newness for the long season ahead. Take a peek at our notes for the seminar:
3 Ways to Autumnize Your Fall/Winter Wardrobe
1. Jersey Layering
The key focus to fall is layering. These days, layering pieces come in many different cozy fabrics. Silk jersey, cashmere jersey, wool jersey, cotton jersey, and modal jersey, to name a few. Layering items are an easy way to add warmth in layers to your ensemble … Plus they don’t wrinkle, are machine washable and easy to pack for trips. And the best reason … They comfortable.
2. Belt It!
Add dimension to your layering pieces by belting. Whether it’s large corset, skinny or stacking belts, each can add new life to your layering pieces. And belts can be worn on all shapes by strategic placement. Larger busts should belt at the empire waist, hour-glass figures at the waist, and straight shapes around the hips in a drop-waist style. And belts with embellishments can give new detail to basic layering pieces with stud details, cut-out shapes, leather, fringe, etc.
3. Statement Necklaces
Statement necklaces were one of the biggest trends to come out of the fall collections this year and it’s such an easy way to add punch to even your most basic layering pieces. Statement necklaces aren’t just for bold dresses or formal occasions. By adding a chunky necklace to your daily profile, it can instantly pull your outfit together without much effort.
Now to kick up the idea of layerying another notch, grab your blazers, sweater wraps, vests, and capes and belt them as well. Adding a belt to a fur vest (real or faux) or cape gives you a multi-layered new look.
Don’t forget about your footwear! One of the best shapes for fall is the ankle bootie. Part pump, part boot, it’s the perfect fall shoe with wear with casual or professional outfits. Add opaque tights to a skirt suit or with denim or leggings for a put- together ensemble.

All About Alexa
We've been following 25-year-old Brit ex-pat Alexa Chung since before she crossed over the pond to become MTV's new star on It's On with Alexa Chung. We're smitten by the confidence and individuality she exudes so well by combining vintage and new so effortlessly as if to shock convention. We're smitten. Did we say that already? Catch her feature in September's Marie Claire just out on newsstands.

We Like Bike
We're excited to be part of the first wave of Downtown local businesses to support Everyonebikes.org in Columbus. It's a collaborative bike share program with participating retailers. We just bought our first bike and took it for a spin! It's the perfect way to get around the Short North (with basket for your purchases), not to mention an easy and conscious way to lower our carbon profile. So far, 10 shops Downtown have signed up in the first wave with 50 more hopefuls by summer's end.
Over the weekend at Gallery Hop, Tigertree hosted a press preview to discover more about the bike share program, including Mayor Michael Coleman.
Loaning a bike at participating shops is complimentary and easy. Each shop provides lock and key. 2-hour time blocks for use. Riders must complete a simple form and waiver of liability provided at each participating retailer. Riders can take a bike, run errands, visit the various retailers throughout our neighborhood, stop and enjoy food/drink/shopping and return the bike for others to enjoy. Super simple.
Visit one of these participating businesses to try one of the Kona Africa 3.0 bikes:

If you like the bike, visit Paradise Garage (www.paradisegarage.com) to get your own. With every two bikes purchased, one is given to an aide worker in Africa.
Dave Hunegnaw of Sandbox and Josh Quinn of Tigertree deserve the credit and thanks for getting this program off the ground. Let's push our pedal to the metal!

Loving Stylists
We love experiencing unique and personal points-of-view and nothing is more distinct than the 3 power stylists we're profiling. Each have their unique way of viewing fashion and style and each prove that self-confidence is the key to eternal glamour.
Emmanuelle Alt is the Fashion Director of Paris Vogue whose personal style radiates a youthful rock exuberance and edginess that is forever glam and forever fresh. Although her look inspires more American glam rock than Parisian bourgeoisie, it's her risk-taking viewpoint that energizes us.
Andrea Lieberman, new mom to an 8-month-old, and stylist to female rock goddesses like Gwen Stefani and Shirley Manson, to name a few, seeks out savvy separates that are chic and timeless in any international setting. A jet-setter herself like her celebrity clients, Andrea recently launched a contemporary collection called A.L.C. based around wardrobe essentials with a twist.
Nicole Chavez is a rising star in the arsenal of young Hollywood It-girls. Her client roster reads like a page in People magazine. Rachel Bilson, Brittany Snow, Kristen Bell, and Scarlett Johansson are just a few of the starlets that count Nicole as their go-to gal for style. A native of Canada, Nicole caught the fashion bug early and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her love, which landed her on the set of The O.C. and numerous films. Her best style advice is to find looks that match your personality and your sense of self. Be a show-off!
Whether it's risk-taking, timeless, or personal, the key to great style is confidence and our 3 favorite stylists demand it in spades.
