In-VEST in Fall

This fall, get inspired by one of the hottest items that has caught on like wildfire among Hollywood's fashionistas: the vest. Perfect to pair back to skinny bottoms, pencil skirts, highwaisted jeans, and more, the vest is the ideal wardrobe staple that never goes out of style and is appropriate for any occasion.

Style tip: Wear your menswear-inspired vest with frilly, feminine dresses for fall and into next spring to add a bit of androgynous balance to your silhouette.

We love the take on traditional by Rose with tye-dyed lining, the draped ease of the vest by grai, and Mike & Chris' sexy leather vest.

We Can't Wait for ALC for Spring 2009

We can't wait for Andrea Lieberman's new collection for spring 2009. The line was chock full of wearable must-haves. Known as a stylist-to-the-stars (Gwen Stefani and Nicole Richie to name a few), Andrea has been a styling veteran for years and her first debut collection for spring '09 is sure to be a hit.

Her well-edited group of looks inspires us to add updated pieces to our wardrobe; timeless choices with thoughtful, modern touches and witty styling details.

We loved her striped maxi dress, long Grecian T-shirt dress, black strapless trapeze dress, simple black skort, and skinny trousers, among many others. There were simply too many standout pieces as well as stable staples made of sumptuous natural fabrics like cashmere, tissue thin cotton, silk, and wool.

Look for it come February 2009!

Preview of Spring 2009 Trends

We're always excited to see the new trends to come down the runway during fashion weeks around the world. Here's a preview of what's to come for next season:

From New York, we saw lots of transparency and muted tones. The color nude was a big hit with many designers from everything to dresses, skirts and tops.

London constantly presents promising new talent during fashion week and we loved Brunello Cucinelli whose safari theme and menswear inspirations conjured the perfect new spring jacket: a grey cotton tailcoat made of sweatshirt fabric. Emma Cook, Stella McCartney (Stella's simple black, white, nude, and muted sea palette was stunning. We loved the idea of the oversized men's blazer worn over everything from dresses to leggings and tapered pants), and Alexander McQueen are constant faves. Along with other fashion insiders, we think Christopher Kane is a talent to watch.

Milan was all about fluidity, fringe and fun. Our favorite was Jill Sander's fringed creations which were intricate and expertly executed. We can't help but think of Italy and also think of sensuous sex appeal and Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci examined this idea with opposites: close to the body classic sexiness and tailored separates built for confident women.

Paris played with minimalism on one end to color and eccentricity on the other. References were varied but some of our favorites were Dries Van Noten with an incredibly wearable collection, to Ann Demeulemeester's Grecian layers and Aussie Martin Grant for his usual understated and unfussy glamour.
